Why Weigh Your Vehicle?
Cars & 4WDs
Overweight cars and 4WDs can be a result of multiple accessories or vehicle modifications, this includes accessories such as bull bars, roof racks etc and modifications like larger wheels, long range fuel tanks and dual battery systems.
Every bit of weight consumes your available payload (typically 500-600kgs for most 4WDs – a legal limit set by the vehicle manufacturer). Payload is consumed not only by the weight of accessories and modifications, but also from your cargo, fuel and passengers.

Understand Your Towing Capacity
Your vehicle’s towing limits are variable and depend on its current weight. When towing, your vehicle payload, and rear axle load, needs to also account for the tow ball mass which typically consumes approximately 50% of your available payload, leaving little room for vehicle accessories, modifications or cargo, such as drawers and a drinks fridge.
Machinery
Corner balancing of machinery is important for safe handling and operation. Tare weights are required for engineering, compliance and registration purposes.

Reece is an absolute legend! Anyone towing a heavy load that doesn’t go to Weigh My Ride before making any vehicle modifications is absolutely crazy. Reece has plenty of experience and qualifications in mechanics, suspension and towing, as well as the right gear to make a proper assessment of how to get the safest and most comfortable set up. And best of all, he gives you all the options, his honest opinion, and isn’t pushy. I knew I was going to be on the limit for my tow ball weight and possibly have other issues with my 24ft SRC behind the D Max, so was expecting major suspension mods and an expensive upgrade. Instead I came away spending less than a a quarter of what I thought I’d have to, and all the weight distribution numbers are now excellent. And best of all, the van has gone from being a bit of a pig to being awesome to tow. I can’t recommend him highly enough and was the best money I’ve ever spent.Posted on Google Bluey Wood14/06/2026Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.
